The Great World Cup Octopus

Paul the
Octopus, was born in England and lives at the Sea Life public aquarium, in the western German city of Oberhausen. Paul has “successfully foreseen” the results of a series of Germany’s games of 2010 World Cup. Paul forecast Germany beat England in eighth-final.

When his handlers put the glass cubes with mussels marked with national flags of Germany and Argentina, Paul seemed to be hesitated a lot between the two teams.

“Paul kept staring at the cube marked with Germany flag for almost one hour, and finally ate the mussel in the cube.” The spokesman of the aquarium said Paul’s activity suggested the game would be a tough one and the score would be very close. But to everyone’s surprise, Germany beat Argentina 4 to nothing.

Skeptics believe this is a little trick played by the Germans; the answer is the colors on German national flag are Paul’s favorite food’s colors.

Anyway, he has “successfully forecasted” 6 games of 2010 World Cup so far.

The latest forecasting
Germany will lose to Spain in the semi-final
